Honeybear Nursery Trains Staff in Wellbeing

We understand the importance of supporting our team members, our children and families to consider their Wellbeing.  Over the last three years we have been incorporating an awareness of the importance of Mental Health and in particular Mindfulness techniques throughout our Nurseries and Pre-Schools.  Our Director, Bernadetta Devine undertook training as a Mindfulness Practitioner, to enable the senior management team to really embrace Mindfulness, in relation to the children and also how our team members relate to one another.

All Room Leaders have now received full training in how to incorporate Wellbeing into everyday activities within the Nursery and Pre-School.  They will also undertake specific Mindfulness exercises during the day, to encourage the children to relax.  In addition each Nursery and Pre-School now also has a Worry Monster.  The Worry Monster loves to eat the children’s scary, anxious or troubling thoughts so they don’t have to think about them any more.  We will be encouraging the children to draw their worries, pop them in the Worry Monster’s mouth and zip it up. Hey presto – their worries are gobbled up.
