International Day of Friendship – 30th July 2021
In 2011 the UN General Assembly proclaimed an annual International Day of Friendship. This year the Day will be celebrated on 30th July 2021. The idea is to highlight that friendship between people, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. The UN’s aim to involve young people, as future leaders, in community activities that include different cultures and promotes international understanding and respects diversity.
In the Nurseries we will mark the day by discussing the importance of friendship and what it means to be a friend. We will discuss how friendship requires empathy, compassion and concern for other people. We will also discuss different cultures and celebrate them.
